Nicholas, Robert P., Fortified in the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.  Beloved husband of the late Rosemary Nicholas (nee Temme) and Doris  Nicholas (nee Manhal); loving father of Peter (Mary Ann) and the late Michael Nicholas and Doris’  children David (Kathy) Manhal, Kevin (Jacquelyn) Manhal and Steven Manhal;  cherished grandfather of Holly (Rob), Greg (Amy), Katye (Mark), Laureen and Garrett (Lauren); and great-grandfather of  Sammye, Nick, Gabby, Claire, Maura, Carter, Owen, Mason, Bella and the late Walker; dear brother of the late Audrey (William) Vilhard; dear brother-in-law of Marcella Franklin, Sr. Mary Ann Huelsing SSND, Joan (the late Carroll) Thum, Margie (the late James) O;Fallon, and the late Dr. Joseph (Susan Sarapin survives) Huelsing; our dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend.

Mr. Nicholas proudly served his country in the U.S.M.C for 14 years in WWII and Korea. During WWII he served in the Raiders and then in the 5th Battalion 5th Amphibious Corps. During the Korean Conflict he served in the 1st Motor Transportation 1st Marine Division and was a survivor of the Chosin Few. He recieved the Silver Star, The Bronze Star and 2 Purple Hearts, among other medals.

Services:  Memorial Mass on Friday, August 11, 10 a.m. at St. Mathias Catholic Church.  Memorials to Alternative  Hospice  appreciated.
