In Loving Memory

Nelson, Bernice Mae

Nelson, Bernice Mae (nee Hogan) Passed away  peacefully on February 3, 2017 at age 100 years and 8 months. She was the youngest of 10  children, born to George and  Artie Hogan and raised on a farm near Howes Mill, MO, along with her brothers and sisters, all now deceased.  Her parents were born shortly after the end of our Civil War and she experienced a life growing up that is all but  forgotten, but always surrounded by a large and loving extended family and many friends. In 1938, she married Willard Nelson who grew up on a  neighboring farm. They had three children, Janet (Bob)  Solheim, Jim (Kelley) and Brenda (Stan) Szydlowski.  Willard died of a heart attack on Christmas Day 1968, and Bernice  devoted her life as she always did to her children; grandchildren Kristin, Cynthia, Brett, Becky, Blake, Tori, Jimmy; 9 great-grandchildren; and many wonderful family members and friends. A fabulous cook and homemaker, she will be missed by all who knew her. She always cared and we all loved her.

Services:  Funeral from KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL,  5255 Lemay Ferry Rd, Wednesday, February 8, 10 am. Interment Boss  Cemetery (Boss, MO) at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers,  contributions to Pathways Hospice, appreciated. Visitation Tuesday 4 – 8 pm
