Moffatt

In Loving Memory

Moffatt, Louise Ellen (nee Sherlock)

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Sunday, October 2, 2022.

Beloved wife of Joseph F. Moffatt II; loving mother of Elizabeth (Terry) Rollins and Joseph (Michelle) Moffatt III; adoring grandmother of Adam and Sarah Rollins, Joseph IV, Charlie and Leo Moffatt; dear sister of Barbara Sherlock, Richard Sherlock and the late William Sherlock; dear sister-in-law of John (Linda) and Vincent (the late Tamara) Moffatt. Our dearest aunt, great-aunt and friend to many.

Louise was born in Chicago and raised in Oak Lawn, Illinois.  She attended nearby Little Flower High School and St. Xavier College.  Louise’s love of adventure, curiosity about other cultures, organizational skills, and pragmatic nature made her well prepared for travels across the United States and Germany with her family as a US Army spouse.  Home included Ft Bragg NC, Edwardsville IL, West Point NY, Ft Devens MA, Ft Benning GA, Washington DC, Heidelberg Germany, and St. Louis MO.   Louise was always a staunch advocate for military spouses and families, especially while US troops were deployed to the Vietnam and Gulf Wars.  Along with her own family, military families held a special place in her heart.  Louise loved opportunities for service, including several positions supporting special education in schools.  As a wife, mother, and grandmother…you’ll be missed.

Visitation at St. Peter Catholic Church (243 W. Argonne Dr. 63122) on Tuesday, October 11 from 9:30 am. until funeral Mass time at 11:00 am. Interment at J.B. National Cemetery. “In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Special People In Catholic Education (SPICE) endowment fund established by the late Monsignor John M. Costello to support all ages with unique needs in our St. Peter Parish and Schools.  More details can be found at https://stpeterkirkwood.org/spice.  Contributions can be made at https://rcfstl.org/fund/special-people-in-catholic-education-spice-endowment-fund/

  5. Dearest Joseph II; It is with the deepest regret that we all find ourselves scattered across the country and unable to gather as we did for many years. The holidays were a spectacular time when we would get together and share stories, compare how the children had grown and our hopes for the future.

Our hearts are full of the wonderful memories that created such a strong bond between us. It is a strong family and you and Louise took the lead in helping to build that strength. Louise remembered every birthday and anniversary and made each of us feel special as we retrieved the thoughtful card from the mailbox. Please know that our love is with you and the family in remembering dear Louise.
Love, Daniel, Scarlett, Allison & Alexander

  7. I don’t even know how to say how much I loved Louise. She was kind, loving, gentle, strong, giving, and always welcoming. Our world is better because she lived in it and because of what she gave to all of us, her family.

I know your heart is heavy with sadness but one day soon you’ll be able to think of her and remember all the special moments you spent together. These special memories will bring a smile to your face. Please know that my heartfelt sympathy is with you and I’m praying the Lord will bring you peace and comfort. Take care dear friend.
