Daniel-Moder

In Loving Memory

Moder, Daniel J.

Age 69, entered into peaceful rest on August 23, 2021, at home surrounded by family.  Beloved son of the late Aloysius and Ruth Moder; dearest husband of 48 years to Marie Moder; loving father to Kirsten (Kamron) Ahmad and Kyle (Jennifer) Moder; devoted grandfather to Gianna and Jackson Ahmad; dear brother of James Moder, the late Dennis Moder, and twin sister, Nancy Hartmann. Cherished uncle, cousin, and friend of many.

“Danny” and “Re” met as teenagers through a mutual friend, while she was working at Bettendorf’s and Danny at Walgreens.  At the end of their shifts, they would meet and adventure around town in his shiny blue Tempest.  He fell for her instantly, and a few weeks into their whirlwind romance, he told her, “Someday, what’s mine will be yours, and what’s yours will be mine.”  They were married on August 10, 1973.

Dan’s creative spirit, altruistic nature, and love of cars drew him to a career where he could combine all three, restoring cars to their original beauty, much to the owners’ delight. He had a keen eye for detail and took such pride in his work.

A warm and caring person by nature, inspired by his mother’s decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s, after retirement, he became a caregiver for Good Samaritan, where he provided compassionate care for those in their time of greatest need.

He will be remembered for his infectious smile, contagious energy, positive outlook on life, can-do attitude, and for the kindness and generosity that he extended to so many.

Visitation at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Sunday, August 29, from 3-8 p.m. Funeral Monday, August 30, 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Lunch to follow at Favazza’s on the Hill.  Please feel free to honor his memory in any way that you’d like. “Dan loved flowers and his favorite charities were St. Jude and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.”

  3. I remember our teen years when Marie and Danny met — Marie stopped hanging around with us girls (me, Patti, and Kathy) and hung out with Danny instead! That was a great choice, Marie! Dan has been by your side all these years, and I believe he still remains by your side every day!❤️

  7. Dan took care of our Dad – Jerry Gerik in our dad’s late stages of Alzheimer’s through Good Samaritan. Dan was an incredible man – so thoughtful, caring, hard working. We remember him always telling our dad jokes and being so funny with him. Our family will always cherish Dan as he holds a very special place in all of the Gerik’s hearts. Our deepest sympathy to his entire family. He was an incredible man and will be missed.
