Maloney, Stephen Michael

passed away on 11/21/2022. He was born in St Louis, Missouri on 9/10/1950 to Robert E. Maloney and Marcella T. Maloney.

Steve is survived by his sisters Jean (Tom) Angus and JoAnn (Tom) Mattler. Steve’s daughter, Marcy Kassly passed away on 6/4/2011.  Steve was predeceased by his brothers, Daniel (Ellen) Maloney and Michael Maloney. Steve had several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and was a friend to all. Steve’s life partner, Karen Eads passed away in 2020.

Steve graduated from Cahokia High School in 1968. He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served on the destroyer U.S.S. Bausell in the Western Pacific region.

Steve was known for his sense of humor and had an endless supply of funny stories of his life experiences from grade school, through the Navy, work, and retirement. After retiring from the CWA/ITU, he became a small business owner. Steve enjoyed float trips, playing pool and being with family and friends. Steve loved reading and was an avid student of history. Steve’s humor and kind heart will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd, St Louis, MO on Tuesday, November 29, 2022; 10:30 a.m. Service at 12:30 p.m. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

  1. Rob and I are very sorry to hear this news. Rob, his business partner from the day, works with someone that knew Steve and told us about his passing. We are incredibly sad. We knew Steve a long time as Rob and Steve worked together at St. Louis Post Dispatch and then even longer while Rob was in business with him for 10-11 years. He was very kind and very helpful to us always. He was a dear friend who will be missed. Prayers of comfort for his sisters and family and close friends.

  5. So Very Sorry to hear of Steve’s passing !!….I worked with Steve at Mid-America Printing & Post-Dispatch as we were both in the Mailers Local 3, St. Louis, Mo, of the I.T.U./C.W.A. Union !!….Steve was a great Union man, hard worker,…a pleasure to work with !!…However Steve was even MORE FUN to Socialize with !!…Steve, few other Union brothers had fun on Trip to Cardinal/Cubs games in Chicago,…..days Boating on the River,.hunting for rabbits, which was the safest place to be if you were a Rabbit !!..LOL
    Oh yeah !!….We usually did all these things while drinking a few beers & sharing hilarious stories !!….Till this day I still use Steve’s phrase when I’m going to take a shower,….from his Old Navy days I suppose ??
    “ Im going to jump in the Rain Locker !! Lol !!……It was my pleasure to know and call Steve Maloney my Friend !! R.I.P. ☘️☘️☘️
