Hello clan Kuczka. My deepest most sincere condolences for this great loss. I may not have met you all but spending four years with Mrs. Kuczka really made me feel like I did. From stories she told of you all to pictures she showed off in class. She was such a pure and genuine loving soul with an amazing spirit. She was more than a teacher. She was family. I loved Mrs. Kuczka like my own mother. But out of love and respect for her and everything she stood for, I will pay her light forward each and everyday because she believed everybody was worthy of love and respect. Even if they never gave any. I will carry her and her belief system with me forever. And again, I’m very sorry that y’all lost her. But just know you have community of people who loved her behind you.
Sending love and praying for change.
Our prayers are with this wonderful family. May God hold you all so tight that your pain and sorrows are comforted. She is so blessed to have raised kind and loving children.
Praying for your all’s family.
My condolences to every single member of her family. Mrs. Kuczka was an amazing woman and teacher! She made learning fun and pushed you to always be your best and do your best. She is gone but will never be forgotten in the hearts of everyone her light touched. I haven’t seen her for many years but I have always thought about her and her impact on where I am today.
Mrs. Kuczka was a beautiful soul and a great person all around. She poured her heart into the students of CVPA and gave maximum effort to create an environment of both respect and love. She taught members of student council what it meant to be a leader, because of her I am a better person. I extend my deepest condolences to her family, and I will pray for your healing and comfort during this time.
I had the pleasure & honor of being Ms. Kuczka’s student for 3 separate classes and I absolutely loved her. She treated every one the same. I am better because I knew her and the world was a much better place when she was apart of it. I will forever remember the lessons she taught me and will forever cherish the memories I have with her. My deepest condolences to the family. I pray you take peace in the fact that she is now in hands far better than ours. Jesus is near to the broken hearted. I pray he brings you comfort in this difficult time.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

From one educator to another,
I’m very sorry this tragedy happened to you and your family. Rest In Peace.
End gun violence now.
I a so sorry for what has happened. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I worked at CVPA over 10 years ago. I remember the pleasny conversations we had. She will definitely be missed.
Ms. Kuczka was an amazing person and mentor. I had the privilege of having her for both middle school and high school. Her involvement in my life has helped me get to where I am today. She opened up my eyes to passion I never knew existed. Ms. Kuczka brought an understanding of not just physical health in her classes but also mental health. She brought KUTO crisis help line to our school, she encouraged me to volunteer and become a hotline worker while in highschool, she let me speak in her classes on the topic of mental health and suicide prevention. Now I’m living my dream and helping kids and teens understand mental health on a deeper level. This was all because of Ms. Kuczka. I remember how much she loved the peanuts, how she would decorate her classroom, how she stood up for students who needed help and advocated when students were being mistreated. She opened up my eyes and helped me find my own voice. She was an amazing teacher and an amazing person all around. I will never forgot this beautiful soul! She always knew what to say and always had the time for me.
Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers! Praying for peace and an end to such violence in our community and the world!

My heart breaks for the Kuczkas family. I am a retired teacher after 46 years. We choose this profession because we love teaching and caring for kids. I have talked to a few people that had Jean as a teacher. There is no doubt she touched many lives. She cared so much she was willing to trade her life for her student’s. We can be sure that as Jean arrived in heaven, God was there to greet her and say “well done, my daughter.”
The law of conservation says that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, and I can’t think of a better representation of you. You are now the energy/ essence that flows through your family, your friends, every student you ever taught and every animal that lives and breathes.
I hope you saw the amount of love and support the community you helped hold together showed. People will know just who you were based on the people who knew you the best. I think God couldn’t have collected a greater soul. You are in good hands and I want to thank you for every lesson you ever taught me. Thank you for being energy in your human form and thank you for being the energy the earth will need. Love you.
My heart aches for you all. Many prayers uplifted for the family.
My condolences to the family of my very knowledgeable colleague. You taught me some things in a short amount of time.

Dear Kuczka family, my heart aches for you all. I’ve met Coach K as a parent for Collegiate Cross Country Team. She held the kids to a high standard and she was nice and so caring. I saw her weekly at every meet, she was the first one there and the last one to leave. My daughter said Coach K would cycle alongside of the team as they’d run daily in Tower Grove Park. She brought popsicles and drinks on the hot days, and bananas to the meets. She was at the mile markers cheering them on, and high fived them as they set their PRs throughout the season. Her warmth and caring spirit shown in everything she did for the team. She showed up for those kids and she was looking forward to retirement and cheering on her own grandkids at their games. She is a hero for protecting the kids in her classroom. Our family will miss her dearly. May her memory be a blessing to you all in this difficult time.
Dianne and Eli Carty

I am a coach with SLPS, and I have known Mrs. Kuczka about 6 years. She and I saw each other at cross country races, the latest being the last 3 Saturdays. She was like a grandmother to her students – loving but strict when she needed to be. We had helped out each other several times with sports-related matters.
I would like to express my sincere condolences during this difficult time. I had the privilege to work with Jean at her time at Seven Holy Founders. May God be with your family during this difficult time.

A beautiful soul taken too soon from her family. Your memories were cut short and we pray the many you hold in your heart will see you through this dark time. May God watch over her precious Grandchildren.
I did not know Jean but our common bond was that we were JDRF riders, her passion to help find a cure for Diabetes is wonderful. I hope we find that cure for Diabetes soon
In the past few days, I’ve had the privilege of learning just how amazing Jean was. Several of the children of congregants at my church had “Ms. Kuczka” as a teacher. I have heard the phrase, “she was my favorite teacher!” more than once. I have heard how strongly she felt her career was her calling in life. She lived kindly and fiercely into that call. What a gift. What a blessing to this world. What a loss.
I pray for light in the darkness, peace in the turmoil, comfort in the pain, and strength for the days ahead for all of you.
May the peace and mercy of God be with your family at this time. My daughters had Mrs. Kuczka as their gym teacher in the 90’s at SHF. They have fond memories. The John Vogel Family SHF
Kuscka Family,
I knew Jean way back through the Girl Scouts. Jean had a heart of gold, love for her family and a love for children. That she chose to be a teacher did not surprise me That she died taking a bullet for the children. Well as Jesus said, There is no greater love than to lay down your life for another.
May you get comfort from knowing that Jean is in the living arms of God and has seen his face.
Grieve as long as you need in time the good memories will begin to seep back in. Celebrate the life that was Jean and keep your wife and mother in your heart.
Forever in my thoughts and prayers.
I’m Christ with love.

I hope only you will some day be able to take solace and inspiration in her deep love for others and her courage. She inspires me to fight for a safer, better world. You are all in my thoughts.
Jean not only left a lasting impression on many , many people over the years–which is quite obvious by all these comments–but left the world a better place for being all who she is–a nice person who also is a true “HERO” for all those she helped save on this horribly tragic day–Prayers for all her family and friends–Forever in our hearts–GOD’S BLESSINGS FOR ALL HER FAMILY AND EXTENDED FAMILY!!
My heart goes out to you and your family, Steve. You are all in my prayers.
What a beautiful, loving soul. Heaven got a new Angel.
My husband, Ken, and I are both sad to hear of Jean’s death. We got to know Jean’s family through the Grandview School District. Steve’s work at the school, and Isabelle’s success in both sports and academics made us realize she has an awesome family that works hard, is very smart and talented, and is also kind. Jean did good and was taken from them too soon.
Please accept our condolences and prayers in this time of grief.
Our hearts are with you!
Our hearts go out to you and your family for the loss of your dear daughter, mother, wife, sister and friend. I hope your happy memories will help you through this difficult time.

Jean taught PE at my school many years ago. I remember her no nonsense attitude and, I am sure she was the first to say,”Just do it!” She taught me and students that we are strong. No one could say, “I can’t “
I took the things I learned from Jean and continued with my students. Train the body and you train the mind! That’s part of your legacy.
I will always smile and feel stronger when I think of you.
Steve and family, Ask God each day for strength to continue in your normal life activities. We pray to all be reunited with Jean in everlasting life.
My husband and I wish your family blessings and comfort at this time. She was a really wonderful example of joy and support for kids. God will welcome her with joy in his heart.

I had Ms. Kuczka for gym my freshman year and she was the sweetest. She was one of a kind even tho I didn’t take health we spoke everyday. She would say “ good morning kp how’s your day going so far “ and greet me with nothing but smiles she was truly the best even on my days I wasn’t feeling it she would make sure I was fine mentally. She was definitely one of those teachers you could talk to about anything and she would listen.. I’m praying for your family WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER AND LOVE YOU

Dear Joey and Abbey. I know I lost track of your wonderful family after HRE. I recall many fond memories of my kids in elementary school with their connection to you two through scouts. I recall your mom and I being volunteer moms and going to the Magic House together for a scouting event and all going out to eat afterwards. I recall sleepovers at my home and yours. So many fond memories. I send my deepest condolences to your whole family for your loss. Hoping many wonderful memories with your mother over the years, will help you to get through the sad times. My condolences to Jean’s family and everyone who knew her. I am heartbroken as well. Jean and I hit it off the moment we met at a JDRF ride in Tucson in 2012, both having children diagnosed with T1D at age ten. Jean, a seasoned cyclist, took me under her wing and cheered me on to finish the daunting 42-mile course in Tucson – my first ride. We rode together again in Nashville and Amelia Island. Jean worked tirelessly to find a cure for this disease. Now that she’s gone, I plan to pick up where she left off and ride in her honor in future rides. May fond memories of Jean uplift you during this difficult time.
