Flaherty, Vivian L.

Vivian L Flaherty was called home to be with the Lord on January 11th 2021 at the age of 102. She passed peacefully in her sleep at her daughter’s house where she lived for 10 years. The last year was in Hospice Care in their home. She was born on January 17th 1918 to William and Jessie Bloomner. Vivian married her childhood sweetheart the late Roy Charles Flaherty in 1935. They were happily married for 49 years. Beloved mother of Roy William Flaherty,(Patricia) both deceased. Betty Ann Woods (Ralph) deceased. Kathleen Sue Brannan, (Mark). Loving grandmother of Kim Briggenhorst, Kay Limpert (Gary), Rick Briggenhorst (deceased) (Sue). Michael Flaherty (Susan)Lisa Flaherty, Kristina Brandt,(Jason) Sarah Riley,(Justin) Shaun Woods,(Amber). She was blessed with 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandaughters. Vivian was very dedicated to Olive Branch Presbyterian church. She was involved in many different activities as well as Sunday school. Vivian made it a priority every Sunday to welcome every new guest. Her fellow church members were not only friends, they were her family. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her.

Services: Visitation will be held at KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Thursday, January 21, from 4 – 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 22 at 9:30 a.m. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

  3. It was such a joy knowing Miss Vivian. What a wonderful example she was of someone who cared about others, their lives, and always was interested in spending time with people. A handshake with her did not last a few seconds but minutes as she would hold you hand and care for you. Miss Vivian, you will be missed. We loved you.

  5. I met Miss Vivian in 2007 at South City Church, just before her big 90th birthday party. She greeted me, each of my children, and even my parents who visited just once a year, each time she saw us by name for years. She was cheerful, warm, and inviting without fail. She was the same age as my grandmother who lived in another country and delighted to represent that matronly comfort to our family. What a blessing she was.
