   Beloved husband of Rosemary Buerke for 52 years; beloved father of Dr. Brian (Diane) Buerke, Beth  (Benoit) DeBry, Lt. Col. Benedict (Cayce) Buerke, Bernadette (Steve) Valko and Barbara (Edward)  Stephen; dear grandpa of 10 and great-grandpa of 1; dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

   Gene was a civil engineer, graduated from St. Louis University and was very involved in his community, church and other organizations. In addition, he was a United States  Marine. He served 30 years in the Boy Scouts and was active in the ASCE Engineering Organization. He served the poor and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Services: Funeral at KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. Monday, January 18, 12:15 p.m. to Queen of All Saints Catholic Church for 1 p.m. Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses requested. Visitation Sunday 4-8 p.m.
