  7. My prayers to the family. Pat and I would ride the bus together from Holy Family going to DuBourg High School. I remember buying my high school books from her, since she was one year ahead of me. Rest easy, Pat.

  9. This is written to my beloved Cousin Patty and you are welcome to read over my shoulder.

I had sent to an e-mail to our extended family and my friends who have been on my e-mail chains (and I know you were so proud that you recently learned how to Reply All as you called me to see if I had received your response)

We have lost a shining star on Earth and now shines brightly in Heaven ~ Patricia “Patty” A.(Wozniak) Wright

I hope you did get to hear my last two (2) VoiceMails messages to you on October 29, 2021 and October 30, 2021 ending with “I love you”. This was when I was checking in to see how you and Johnnie were doing from our last telephone visit of October 10, 2021 when you replied to my “How are you doing? … ‘Oh, just the usual aches and pains of growing older, slow’ due to leg issues and using walker.’

I was shocked when Johnny (Johnnie a/k/a The Woz) called me November 5, 2021 and I missed that call and then on Saturday, November 6, 2021 to let me know of your sudden and unexpected departure.

During these past weeks, I have had much time to reflect and I hope and believe that you were surrounded by Angels to lead you to your heavenly destination and in your final earthly hours you were not alone as you bravely had decided not to undergo any extraordinary measures to prolong your life that may have only been more difficult for you to endure and not give you the quality of life you deserved.
This morning, I recalled the words from the Song by ABBA “I Have A Dream” ‘I believe in angels. Something good in everything I see. I believe in angels. When I know the time is right for me I’ll cross the stream.’

I know you listened to the Voice of God calling you to come and partake of your eternal reward and not experience any more suffering. You had the most kind and loving heart and no matter what the challenges you had in your life, you always had a smile on your face and a laugh to cheer others!

On Friday morning, memories flooded my mind of all the Polish weddings and showers from the “old” days; our new Easter outfits, patent leather shoes and “bonnets”; all of the holiday meals at your Mom and Dad’s, Clara (nee Raczynski and Uncle Joe; after their deaths then Thanksgiving at Cathy and Rogers” and Easter at Johnny and Dianna’s at the old home ( I was rarely in St Louis for Christmas after moving to Texas in 1976); the Santa at Christmas, all our trips to Richard and Ann Mech’s house in Alton; and visits to and from the Joe and Louise Mech family home in Downers Grove; Forty and Eight American Legion and you were still in the Auxiliary; Holy Family school parades and picnics at The Highlands and Chain of Rocks Amusement Parks, 4th of July celebrations with your dad and my dad setting off the rockets. Our special lunches with you and Cathy at me when I would come up to St. Louis for visits and our family gatherings at Cusanelli’s (thanks for always indulging me for my favorite pizza of all time. Remember our next shared meal is your “Treat” and many, many more that I hold in my heart.

For those of you reading over my shoulder the Mech’s are related to us by our grandmother, Katarzyna (Catherine) (nee Mech) Raczynska.

As I will not be able to make the trip to share in your celebration of life, I do have a plane ticket I will be coming to visit you in your final earthly resting place at some future date. I will have a couple of ambassadors who will stand in for me and I will be there in Spirit.

    Love always,
    Have a blessed day,
    Barbara bjryelorose

  11. Dear Wright Family, Johnny and Dianna ~

Please know that I am with you in Spirit as I was not able to travel to MO during this holiday week.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers and even thought this is difficult for us as we mourn and grieve, I know that Patty is in a better place. This quote from Isaiah 40:31 NIV seems fitting:
“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
    No more cane for Patty.!!

I am offering these prayers for healing of broken and wounded hearts. May God’s balm and grace reconcile us and know that we have God’s promise of Life Eternal.

“Grief never ends … But it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love.” AUTHOR UNKNOWN

Prayer for Eternal Rest (The Requiem Prayer)
Eternal rest grant unto Patty, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

We therefore commit Patty’s body to the ground its final resting-place; earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. In the hope of resurrection unto eternal life, through the promise of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we faithfully and victoriously give Patty over to your blessed care. Amen.

O God, Creator and Redeemer of all Your faithful people. Grant to the soul of all our faithful departed, Patty, your mercy, light and peace. Lord, we pray that those we love who have gone before us in faith may know Your forgiveness for their sins and the blessings of everlasting life. In the company with the Virgin Mary and all the angels and saints in Heaven. Amen

    Love always,
    Have a blessed day,
    Cousin Barbara a/k/a bjryelorose

  13. Patty Woz was and will always be my best friend. I talked to her after so many years just recently and it was like we never were apart. So many crazy teen adventures with our equally dear friend Jan.I am thankful for that loving conversation and will carry her in my heart as the dear person we all knew her to be.

  15. My deepest sympathies to the Wright and Wozniak families. Patty was a special friend at DuBourg. She had a wry sense of humor — could see something funny in just about everything—but had great human empathy and listened and sympathized with the struggles of others. We had so much fun as teenagers before adulthood caught up to us! I feel so fortunate to have had her as a friend and know we will meet again in some way.
