In Loving Memory

Tissi, James W. “Jim”

James W. Tissi “Jim”, 63, of DeSoto, Mo, unexpectedly passed away on November 28, 2019 at his home. It is with great sadness that we announce his passing.

He was born in St. Louis, MO, on October 7, 1956, beloved son of the late Thomas and Joan Tissi. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his former wife of 41 years, Rozina Tissi, and their two children, Angie Tissi-Gassoway (Nina) and Joseph Tissi, and granddaughter, Taylor Tissi. He is also survived by his siblings, Tom Tissi (Margie), David Tissi (Callie), Mike Tissi (Michelle), Barb Ross (Darren), as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jim was a Retired Firefighter of Mid-County Fire Protection District and proud member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2665. He began his fire service career in 1978 as a Private Firefighter with the Wellston Fire Protection District. He was promoted to Captain Tissi in 1982. He is also served as a Volunteer Firefighter with the DeSoto Fire Department throughout his career. He served an honorable 37 years to the Mid-County Fire Protection District, throughout his career he received numerous honors and distinctions, most notably a Medal of Bravery for actions taken on emergency incidents.

He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, a founding member of the Clifton Capers, proud to have grown up on The Hill and was a lover of all things Italian (especially spaghetti & meatballs and ravioli). In his free time, he was a connoisseur of classic rock n’ roll, enjoyed playing golf with his buddies, and spending time with family and friends at a good ole fashion BBQ and picnic.

Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Jim’s life. Visitation will be held from 4-6pm with Funeral Service immediately following on Friday, December 6th, at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, Mehlville, MO.
