4, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Eleanore Thorpe (nee Foley); loving father of Dennis (the late Candace), Kevin (Julie), Pam (Tom) Guntli, Patty (Doug) Lanier, James (Connie), Jack  (Cindy) and Bill (Diane) Thorpe; dear brother of Marge (Nick) Voigt; our dearest grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, Godfather, cousin and friend to many. James was a proud member of the U.S.M.C. League Detachment #183. He bravely served on the islands of Iwo Jima and Nagasaki.

Services: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd., on Monday April 10, at 9 am to Saint Dominic Savio Catholic Church for 9:30 a.m. Mass. Interment at J.B. National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to Catholic charities  appreciated. The family wishes to thank the staff and  friends at Surrey Place for their love and care given to James. Visitation Sunday, 4-8 p.m.
