Services: Funeral from Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Tuesday, September 15, at 9:15 a.m. to Sacred Heart Catholic Church (Valley Park) for 10 a.m. Mass. Interment at J.B. National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Greater St. Louis Honor Flight appreciated. Visitation Monday 4-7 p.m.

He was a great man. I am so sorry. I always looked forward to going over there to clean the ac. I will always appreciate the conversations I had with him. I am truly sorry.

I will always recall my Uncle Gene (aka one of my favorite people on the planet) with nothing but fondness, admiration and gratitude. In my early years, we shared a love of baseball. His “The Cardinals Won the Pennant!” LP was on constant repeat on the stereo when I visited Gene and Claire many years ago. Later, we shared a love of a good glass or three of beer and a chat about all things in life. Rest easy, my good man. You will be sadly missed but fondly remembered, always.

Prayers to this family. I had the pleasure of meeting Gene in the parking lot at the hospital while meeting up with Claire. I enjoyed our 10 minute conversation about the honor flight. What a great legendary man with quite a story to tell. I know he will be missed.
