Theresa and Ashley. I have been thinking about all of you and praying for you. This is such an unbelievably difficult and painful time. I’m so sorry.
Like a lot of us, he was quiet and reserved when he first came into the unit straight out of AIT. He was reliable from the start and became part of what I like to think of as “the old crew” after a few drills and his first AT with us. I was a fresh NCO at the time and having Ritchie in my squad made my job much easier. He caught on real quick and our section got really close around that time thanks to him. As armament guys, we used to stay at the range after-hours during our annual rifle qualification and we’d hang out as a section. When I think of those times, our boy Richie is one of the only guys from the old crew who I know was actively participating in our fun and games. Impossible to forget friends like that.
May you rest in peace and watch over the rest of us from heaven before we eventually get there
