In Loving Memory

Saim, Denise Rae

(née Mauldin), 64, of Affton MO passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 in her home. Born November 16, 1955 in St. Louis MO, the daughter of the late Orlan Mauldin and the late Fern Mauldin (née Schickedanz). Beloved wife of Abulgasim Saim; mother of Amirah Saim and the late Adam Saim; sister of Deborah Perrin, Diana Gilbers and the late Dennis Mauldin; aunt, great aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, and friend to many.

Denise’s home was the go-to place for family and friends because of the fun and comfortable atmosphere she cultivated. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with children, caring for her pets, shopping, and reading.

Visitation at Kutis Affton, 10151 Gravois Road on Tuesday, June 2 from 3:00pm – 8:00pm. Service is Wednesday, June 3 at 11:00am at Kutis followed by grave-side services at Our Redeemer Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution to The American Heart Association or Stray Rescue of St. Louis would be appreciated.

Condolences

  1. We will miss her so much. I never thought she would leave us so soon. You always think you will have more time to spend together, and then it is gone. I always think about the good times we had together.

  5. Though I didn’t know Denise Saim personally, her daughter Amy was a very kind and sweet woman. So, you can usually always tell the kind of love a person cultivated by those they touched and inspired. So knowing Amy says a lot about who her mother was. Rest In Peace and God Bless her Family and friends through this sore and hurtful time. It is certain that God has gained another beautiful vibrant angel.

  13. Denise, whom I met my first week at WashU in 1990’s, was always so kind and welcoming. She was my go-to-person for answers, always quick to respond and the best of colleagues. She’ll be missed!!

  25. I’m so sorry for your loss. Denise was such a sweet and funny lady. Although we didn’t work together in Engineering, I always saw her during our commutes to campus. May she rest in peace and you find comfort in your memories of her.

  27. What a lovely and amazing person!!! In the middle of finals season at WashU Engineering we’d be wandering around as sleep-deprived stress balls and there she was, a beacon of hope to all of us. She really was a mother to over a thousand students, making sure we were fed and rested and knew we were valued far beyond our GPA. She was warm and kind, and so quick-witted. She could make you laugh and smile on your worst day, and I can only imagine the love she gave to her family and vice versa. In this time of cruel reminders that bad things can happen even to the best of people I wish you all peace and strength. She was a just a lovely person and students will be thinking of her and her loved ones every day.

  29. I haven’t seen Mrs. Saim in years.. I was a close friend to her son Adam who sadly passed away in 2005… She was a saint and treated me as her own when I was a teen.. may her and Adam rest in paradise together.
