David Reich, AKA South County Dave, born October 24, 1954 passed away peacefully on June 7, 2018 in St. Louis, Missouri. Dave is survived by his most proud possession, his 84 Monte Carlo SS and by his loving and dedicated siblings; Tim Reich (Ruth), Cathy Reidel (Dan), Tom Reich (Ann), Carol Bogosian (John). He was a proud uncle to Julia Shaw (Jason), Amy Reidel Cusumano (Rick), Ashley Reich (Paul Passiglia), Joe Reidel, Michael Bogosian, Abigail Reich, Sam Bogosian, and Jake Bogosian and great-uncle to Jason Jr, Riley, Jack and Vera. He also leaves behind a close and loving extended family of his aunt, cousins, neighbors, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael L Reich, his father, John L Reich, his mother, Marilyn L White, and stepfather, Robert L White.
Dave’s passion for life was street-car racing. His legend began as a teenager, drag racing up and down what is now known as Interstate 255. Before long he became known as “South County Dave” with many racing wins behind him. He is recognized today by his famed 84 Monte Carlo SS that he raced for many years. When he could no longer drive it, his good friend Eric took the wheel. Together they spent hours making it better, faster, and louder! This was the joy of Dave’s life. Racing brought him so many wonderful, caring friends who loved him and whom he loved in return. Everyone extended a hand to Dave, always helping when needed, and in return they got a loyal, devoted friend, who did everything in his power to assist them whenever he could. Dave was a long-time employee at Meyer’s Automotive. Everyone at Meyer’s quickly became Dave’s extended family; always there for him and keeping him close to their hearts even after he retired. Dave made many friendships at Meyer’s with his regular customers. He was always happy to see them while shopping or dining at one of the local breakfast restaurants. Dave was an inspiration for many with his will to live and enjoy life, despite his physical challenges. He was the glue, the common bond, that held many circles together.
A Memorial Service will be held at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road St. Louis MO at 11:00 am on Saturday June 16th, (visitation 8:00 am – 11:00 am). Followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Eternal Rest grant unto him, oh, Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
