In Loving Memory

Orr, Earl Raymond

Earl Raymond Orr, age 92, went to Heaven on August 1, 2020.

Born in 1928, he and his siblings were raised in the Lutheran Orphans’ Home in Des Peres, MO.  In 1947, he joined the US Marine Corps and proudly served until 1956. He worked several jobs, including Moehlenhoff Truck Farm, the Parkmoor, Emerson Electric, and was a long-time employee of McDonnell Douglas. After he retired, he was a member of the Gateway Winnies RV Club for over 30 years. He was also a Freemason, a member of the Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. In 1956, he married Betty and they built their house by hand. They raised two daughters. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest, going out of his way to help others and was a stranger to no one. He frequently said, “It’s almost a sin to be as happy as I am.”

Best dad and father-in-law of Cindy (Ray) Knittig and Sue (Mike) Walker.  Loving “Popo” to Laura, Jenny, Carly, and Beth, and “Great-Popo” to Caitlyn, Maddie, Lucas, Dominic, Lainey, Vinnie, and Layla. He was a dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, and friend. He was also Bella’s buddy.

Funeral services will be private with burial at Jefferson Barracks. While he always wanted a lot of flowers at his funeral, this is not possible with the current conditions. Instead, please consider sending flowers to someone you love or making a donation in Earl’s memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Fisher House. A Kutis South County service.

  1. Uncle Earl will be missed. I loved him very much and my husband always referred to him as “Earl the Pearl”. Because he was so nice and happy. Uncle was always laughing and smiling and brought joy to all the family functions. He could be the life of the party!
He always made me feel loved. I know he is now with all the rest of the family and is the life of the party! Sorry to see you go Uncle. I will make a donation in Uncle Earl’s name to Shriners Hospital,
