Ruth-Noakes

In Loving Memory

Noakes, Ruth P.

Ruth P. Noakes passed away at the age of 86, in the comfort of loved ones, on Sunday, March 22, 2020. Born August 30, 1933, in South St. Louis, to William and Garnet (Petry) Strantz. Ruth graduated from Cleveland High School and enjoyed a long career at Safeco Ins. Co. She married Roy C. Noakes, preceded in death. They settled in Crestwood where they raised three sons.  Ruth is remembered with love by her brother, Robert(Annette); her sons, Kevin (Oralia), David (Patricia), and Scott (Julie); eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.

Ruth was blessed with zest, a sense of responsibility, an independent mind, (which she would freely share…) integrity, boundless energy, compassion for others, dignity, a sense of humor, and a taste for the good things in life, like volunteerism, the Cardinals, Ted Drewes, and a cold beer with bratwurst.

Ruth’s sons wish to thank all those who enriched her long life and supported her during her final year. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of the organizations where Ruth spent much of her time and energy: Ronald McDonald House (West Pine), the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Southminster Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service will be held at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Crestwood, at a later date.

In younger years, Ruth and Roy were fond of road trips, Scouting, camping, hiking, canoeing, bicycling and line dancing. After retirement, Ruth didn’t slow down. She worked at Yellowstone National Park, walked with the Ten Toes Walking Group, collected 50/50 tickets at the Banjo Club,  mowed her lawn, attended Cardinal’s games, frequented the Museum of History, attended shows at the Fox Theatre, visited family in Maine and Colorado, and baked lemon bread to share with friends.

  1. I’m so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort help you during this difficult time. (2Corinthians 1:3,4 & Psalms 83:18). Jesus prayed for God’s Kingdom to come because He knew it would be able to solve all mankind’s problems even death. (Revelation 21:4,5 & Daniel 2:44).

  5. I am so very sorry for the loss of your Mother Ruth. I have known her for many years as a fellow Make A Wish volunteer. Always enjoyed doing wishes and working events with her. Several of us long time volunteers had gotten together for lunch from time to time. Then she got sick and we did not hear from her. She contacted me in December and we visited her, had breakfast, saw her new home. A couple weeks later we got the rest of the group and took her to lunch. It was a great lunch and we all enjoyed as we had for years her great stories. I am so blessed to have spent some time with her recently. She was an amazing woman…she was interesting and funny with the biggest heart ever. She will be missed by many. I am glad we got to tell her one more time..she was our FRIEND. Please let us know when her service is… Much Sympathy to her family. ONE THING FOR SURE>>>SHE LOVED YOU ALL
