Nickell

In Loving Memory

Nickell, Lucia

68, of O’Fallon, Missouri, was granted her angel wings on April 7, 2021.

Lucia is from the Latin for ‘light’. Undeniably fitting for this beacon of love and caring.

Lucia was loved by so many because she loved so many and so strongly. She was the perfect example of selflessness, as she gave and considered the needs and wishes of others more than her own.

She grew up in Affton, Missouri, the 7th and youngest child of Ione and Martin Rosemann and sister to Kathleen, Elvira, Gilbert, Shirley, Cecilia and Jane. Lucia attended St. George grade school and DuBourg high school.

She married to Dennis Nickell on June 01, 1973 and was planning for a big 50th wedding anniversary party for the last several years.

She was a loving mother to Jessica Dawn (Shinn), Dana Marie (Frank), and Jason Caleb, and a caring Mother in law to Lee Shinn, Jon Frank and Kathryn Wecker.

Lucia was a proud and loving Grandmother to Connor Orion Haupt, Harvey Robert Frank and Josephine Brook Nickell. She so loved all her children and grandchildren. She was constantly making crafts and knitting things for them.

Lucia loved strongly and cared deeply for so many. Her outgoing nature and willingness to greet anyone with kind words and a smile is shared by her grandson Harvey. She will be so dearly missed.

Rest in peace my love, my light.

Services: Funeral at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Mon. April 12, 10 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Sun. 4-8 p.m.

  5. Dennis and Lucia were our neighbors for 18 years. She was so kind to our boys, making them crayon boxes by hand when they were young. She was always there with a smile on her face and a kind word. I could see the love she had for Dennis and he for her. She will be dearly missed.

  7. We have known all of you for so long. Even though we aren’t blood relatives, we have always felt like family. It was such a shock to hear of Lucia’s passing. Lucia and I talked many times about Little House on the Prairie and she was so talented with the crafts she would make. She was a kind soul who will be missed a great deal by everyone! We are so sorry for your loss Dennis. We don’t understand what life holds or why things happen the way they do, but I guess Heaven needed another angel. You all have our heartfelt condolences. God Bless.

  9. To my lifelong friend:

I cannot pretend to understand the grief that you are feeling after losing Lucia after all these years. I understand how you must hurt for your children and grandchildren. I am unable to be there in person but I want you to know a couple of things that I hope will give you some comfort and that gives me the utmost respect for you.
    1. Despite the adversities that Lucia faced you never left your bride’s side. When you said in sickness and in health you meant it and I know Lucia loved you back for it.
    2. I don’t believe any kindness is wasted in our short time on this planet and the kindness that you showed her will come back to you through your children and grandchildren as well as the rest of your extended family.
