  1. I knew Mary from when we were “kid parishioners” at St. Andrew’s in Lemay. When we were in college we both used the Newman Center as our respite place between classes. RIP Mary.

  3. I will miss Rita: all her great stories, beautiful stitching but most of all the joy she was and shared. I will miss her and am very grateful to have known her and called her a friend.

  5. There must be stitching in heaven. If there isn’t, Rita will start a group. I shall miss you my friend. Your laugh, your stories, your drinks with a dozen cherries. Rest my friend and smile down at us now and then.

  7. I love this picture of Rita! She was so funny and a great friend. She loved to travel. Through her travels she saw more of the world than most of us. We became friends after we both retired and had time for our favorite hobby – stitching. Rita did beautiful needlework. We attended many Sunday afternoons enjoying good food and stitching with our friends. We traveled together in search of the most complete shop, most beautiful pattern, perfect fabric and threads. We laughed ourselves silly at a number of weekend stitching retreats. I can’t believe she’s gone, but I hope someday to see the beautiful projects she completes in heaven.

  11. A beautiful picture of Rita! What a dear wonderful stitching friend! So thankful for the friendship, laughter and contentment in all of our stitching hours together. I will always remember the late night laughter at one of our Indiana retreats when we discovered that our needlepoint hobby spending was actually a great investment with a substantial return on our money!! We will miss you dear friend.

  13. Rita was a very good friend when I played guitar and sang in the Mary Mother choir, 1979 to 1981. As a bunch of young folk, we all partied together and shared a number of good times. She even came to Louisville and stayed at our house, to attend my wedding in 1981. Good friends are hard to find. She was a good friend.

  17. Our friend, Rita, will be missed. I am very thankful for our time together. Her joy & happiness was infectious. She always had great stories as we splashed and exercised in the water at Arnold Rec Center. And we laughed a lot; sometimes we cried too, when necessary. My hope is that her example will live on in all of us — We need the Joy!!
