Beloved wife of the late Peter Anthony Maniscalco; loving mother of Peter (Bree) Maniscalco and Bridgette (Terry) Geraghty; dear grandmother of Alyssa (Kyle), Sophie, Sabrina, Daisy, Laura, Mary (Adam) and Clare; dear sister of Dennis Long; dear sister-in-law of Frances Piazza and Rich Herberholt; dear aunt, cousin and friend.
Family was the most important thing to Doryle. Born on November 12, 1946, she grew up in South City, the youngest child of John and Alice Long. She was very close to her brothers Kenneth, Denny and Terry as well as her sisters, Bonnie and Sandy. Her nieces and nephews also became an important part of her life.
Doryle married Pete and shortly thereafter, they built a family of their own with Peter and Bridgette. She was a preschool teacher, crossing guard and, for a very short time, the PE teacher at her kids’ school. She did office work from home, working through the night to be available for family during the day. She eventually retired to care for her mother and granddaughters full time.
Doryle’s nurturing personality, as well as her open door policy, made her a second mother to many. She was rarely seen without a smile on her face. She was always easy to talk to, had a fun-loving spirt and cared deeply for others, which led to life-long friendships that she cherished.
Doryle will forever be missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
SERVICES: Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd., Friday March 4, 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass Saturday March 5, 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. Inurnment Mt. Olive Cemetery.
