Liss, Rev. Robert Charles

Rev. Robert Charles Liss, 84, fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother
Church , passed away on September 5 at de Greeff Hospice House. Born on
March 2, 1937, he was the son of Marguerite and Charles Liss. He attended St.
Engelbert’s Grade School and CBC High School. Rev. Liss entered Kenrick-
Glennon Seminary, studying two years in St. Louis and six years at North
American College in Rome, Italy. He was ordained in December 1962. He then
served in the following parishes: St. Gabriel the Archangel (St. Louis, MO)
1963-1972, St. Gregory (now Holy Trinity, St. Ann, MO) 1972-1978, St. Norbert
(Florissant, MO) 1978-1981, St. John the Apostle and Evangelist (St. Louis, MO)
1981-1985, Pastor at St. Francis of Assisi (Luebbering, MO) 1985-1991, Pastor at St.
Lucy (Jennings, MO) and St. Casimir (Hathaway Manor, MO) 1991-1992, and
Pastor at St. Stephen (Richwoods, MO) 1992-2015. Rev. Liss retired to Regina
Cleri in 2015. He loved the liturgy and priestly duties. Rev. Liss had an extended
interest in the Church’s history and world history and he liked to travel, especially
to places in Italy and Israel. He had an interest in visiting older churches and
other historical buildings as well as battlefields of various wars. Rev. Liss was a
great story teller and enjoyed long discussions with friends and family. He will be
greatly missed by family and friends. Rev. Liss is survived by his sister Joan Keith,
wife of the late Robert Keith and companion of the late Francis Bardot, and many
nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 15, at St. John Paul II,
4980 Heege Road, Affton, MO. Visitation at 10:00 A.M., followed by Mass at
11:00 A.M. Burial at Calvary Cemetery at 2:15 P.M. Donations to your favorite
