Lane, Claire

On June 21, 2022 Claire Lane passed away peacefully at the age of 99. Devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was an inspiration with her prayerful soul and kindness.

Just shy of her 18th birthday, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was promoted to Sergeant. She later served in the Reserves. She was Commander of the American Legion Women’s Post 1515 from 1950-1951. She professed vows and entered the Secular Franciscan Order, Saint Francis of Assisi Fraternity on August 8, 1978.

Services: Visitation is at Kutis Funeral Home South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road on Thursday, June 30th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 4556 Telegraph Road, Saint Louis, on Friday, July 1st at 10:00 AM. Internment immediately following at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monastery of Saint Clare, 200 Marycrest Drive, Saint Louis, MO 63129–4813.
