H.-Kramer

In Loving Memory

Kramer, Hannelore (nee Friedrich)

Kramer, Hannelore, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 1st, 2022.

Beloved wife of the late Witold E. Kramer; dear mother of Thomas (Nicole) and Martin Kramer; dear grandmother of Amelia, Eliza, and Lukas Kramer; dear sister of the late Ernst Friedrich and Christa Kaiser; a dear sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Hannelore was happily married to her husband for over 53 years until his passing in 2015.  They enjoyed raising their sons and spending time with their grandchildren.  She was a member of Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, and belonged to several German organizations, and she was very active in the German community of St. Louis.  Hannelore enjoyed cooking and working in her garden very much.  She also loved to care for children.  She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community.

She was born in Brandoberndorf, Germany, a small town northwest of Frankfurt and grew up on a farm where she learned many skills including driving a tractor.  Later she worked as a nanny for a wealthy family in Frankfurt.  In 1956 she came to America and met her future husband, Witold, in St. Louis, MO.  They were married in 1962.  Hannelore worked as a Bookkeeper for Standard Travel Service and also a nanny for many years.  She enjoyed traveling, especially to Germany and Florida.

Hannelore lived her life focused on caring for others and rarely sought out praise and attention. She had a cheerful nature and was willing to help anyone.  She will be missed very much by her family and friends.  May she rest in peace.

SERVICES: Visitation Sunday, October 9th at Kutis Affton 10151 Gravois from 5:00pm-8:00pm and Monday October 10th at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church (5252 South Lindbergh Blvd. 63126) at 10:30am until service at 11:00 am.  Interment Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Christ Memorial Lutheran Church or Hope Lutheran Church (1512 N. Cherry St., Mt. Carmel, IL 62863) appreciated.

Condolences

  1. Hannelore was a dear friend of our family ever since we were little kids. She was like a second mother to me. She was funny, caring, joyful, and frugal! I love her to pieces.

  3. We adopted Hannelore as Fräulein Friedrich, and she adopted us for the next sixty years.
She was tüchtig, fröhlich, and one of the most loving people I have ever known. She taught us all so much about living. Peace to you, dear Hannelore.

  7. Tante Hannelore was always so thoughtful. Her nieces and nephews from Cleveland, Ohio loved her dearly and we enjoyed our visits to St. Louis. One of my favorite memories is when Tante Hannelore and Uncle Witold took us to the Gateway Arch and we rode the elevator up to the top. She will be greatly missed.

  13. Hannelore was always my German link in the US. Her father Ernst and my grandmother Emma, were siblings. 45 years ago I followed in her footsteps and immigrated to the US. Shortly after my arrival I visited the Kramer family. I lived in Florida at the time and was invited to Tom‘s confirmation. Hannelore had prepared the most beautiful cakes. I still remember them. She tought me how to properly make a bed and told me to never buy Hamburger Helper. She said, most food out of a cardboard box is unhealthy. Try to always cook fresh. I was just 18 years old at the time and to this day, I have never prepared Hamburger Helper and I still make my bed the way Hannelore tought me.
I so miss our biweekly phone calls. I can still hear here telling me about what was growing in her garden at that time. I learned so much from her.
She was a beautiful, kind woman. I miss her.
