Kovalenko, Elisha (Elisay)

Elisha (Elisay) Kovalenko, 37, of St. Louis MO, passed away July 20th, 2021. He was born May 25th, 1984, in Novosibirsk Russia, son of Ilya and Marina Kovalenko.
Elisha was the fourth of ten children. His brothers, his oldest friends, and he went on countless adventures; hunting, hiking, camping, white water kayaking, jumping off cliffs, and free-hand rock climbing, among others. He loved the outdoors, and would often grab his backpack and sleeping bag and go into the woods to sleep under the stars. He was a skilled carpenter and craftsman. He frequently worked alongside his father and brothers.
Elisha had a laid-back demeanor. He would flash a mischievous smirk and reveal a quick wit and dry sense of humor. He livened up any gathering. His love of travel went beyond leisure as he traveled with a purpose. His travel included mission trips to Ukraine and France to help people in need, including contributing his skilled craftsmanship and avid fundraising for the less fortunate.
Elisha loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews and along with his other brothers enjoyed setting up big fireworks for them every 4th of July. He had a way with kids, and they adored him.
Everyone who knew him loved him.
He is survived by parents Ilya and Marina Kovalenko, siblings Angelina, Daniel, Timofei, Matthew, Miroslava, Ilya jr., Mark, Stephen, and Ethan Kovalenko, Fiance Nadezhda White, 3 nieces and 7 nephews as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 10 am Wednesday July 28th, 2021 at Shepherd Hills Cemetery located 1925 Old State Road M, Barnhart, MO 63012. A memorial luncheon for family and friends will be held afterwards at Astoria Kabob House located 12949 Olive Blvd, St Louis 63141. A Kutis South County service.

  9. Elisay was a gentle,warm, caring and had a sudel sense of humor. At times he could be so vibrant and excited about life but if you were around him for any length of time for brief moments you could feel that he had an old soul. God understood Elisay and now will make sure his soul is at peace
