Dorothy Marie Busby Karr, born 4-8-25, Passes 3-31-19. Originally from East Prairie, Missouri.
Met her future husband, Oliver Russell Karr in high school. Married 12-11-43.
They had a son Denny and moved to St. Louis in late 1940’s. Then they had a daughter,
Rusceilla. In 1951 they moved to Arnold. Then they had twin daughters Sharon and Karen.
Dorothy made all of the holidays special, especially Christmas. She always made sure we had
a huge real tree. She made all kinds of cookies, divinity, and fudge. Plus she always made
pies and a huge meal. She stayed up all Christmas Eve to wrap our presents. She did this all
while working full time and raising a family with four children.
She made all of our birthdays special. We got to pick out what we wanted for our birthday
dinner, always had presents and a cake from the bakery.
Through the years we enjoyed camping where she would cook delicious meals over the
campfire. She would get the camper ready, get us ready, and clean the camper afterwards and
then go back to work.
She was always there for every surgery her kids had and for the births of most of her
grandchildren, staying and helping take care of them.
Her family thought she was the best family cook ever. Her kids remember her always in the
kitchen cooking. She would start cooking dinner right after breakfast.
In the future years she went on to have 8 grandchildren; Matthew, Elisa, Brian, Natalie, Ryan,
Douglas, Nicholas, and Tyler. And one great grandchild Oliver Muharrem, named after his great
grandfather and grandfather.
When 2 of her grandchildren, Elisa and Matthew were discussing heaven, Elisa asked Matthew
if he thought they were going to go to heaven. Matthew said well grandma is going to heaven.
And Elisa replied, well so are we cause grandma’s heaven wouldn’t be heaven, without all of us !
