Johnson, Walter George

Retired from National Imagery and Mapping Agency in 2000, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 8, 2021.

Walter was the beloved husband of Virginia (nee Vishion) for 59 years; dear father of Christopher, Jacqueline (Bassam) Khalil and Matthew (Charlene); loving grandfather of Lee, Jada, Grace and Marcus; dear brother of Harris. He is predeceased by his brother, Daniel; his mother, Maxine; and his father, Harry.

Walter was a graduate of St. Louis University and Christian Brothers College High School.  He was an avid follower of college basketball and a lifelong fan of the baseball Cardinals. He was a wonderful and devoted father with a sharp wit and a mischievous sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

SERVICES: Memorial visitation at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church 4900 Ringer Road on Tuesday, May 18, 9:30AM until time of funeral Mass at 10:30AM. Inurnment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Parish appreciated. KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY.

Chris was my mentor in so many ways but it was easy to see where his superhuman qualities came from…you two. Mr. Johnson’s character, kindness and simple calmness will be with me forever.
