Joan Marie Huelsmann (nee Buckley)

Entered into eternal rest on January 29, 2022 at age 79.  Cherished wife of Richard Huelsmann for 32 years. Beloved mother of John Ellison, Jr. (Donna), Mary Huff (James), Margaret O’Fallon (Jeffrey), Kathleen Buckingham (George Jr.), Kevin Ellison (Phyllis), Timothy Ellison (Angela), and Thomas Nikolaisen (Tracie). Loving stepmother of Lance Huelsmann (Claire) and Steven Huelsmann (Angie Sims). Adoring grandmother of John Ellison III, Christine Ellison, Justin Ellison (Jennifer), James Huff III, Jamisa Huff, JaeAnna Huff, Staff Sergeant Ryan O’Fallon (Mary), Michael O’Fallon, Sarah Buckingham, PFC George Buckingham III, Andrew Ellison, Melissa Ellison, Lauren Bayer (Josiah), John Valentine, Alex Valentine, Noah Nikolaisen, Nathan Nikolaisen, David Huelsmann, and Hunter Huelsmann. Great grandmother of 15. Dear aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend.

Loving sister of Betty Bryan (James, deceased) and sister-in-law of Don Barr.  Joan was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Buckley, and 5 siblings: Margaret Kennedy (Robert), Patricia Barr (Don, surviving), Jane Chiotti (Tony), John “Bud” Buckley, Jr. (Shirley), and Stephen Buckley.

Joan was born in St. Louis and a longtime parishioner of Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Joan worked in healthcare including at St. Mary’s Hospital and SLU Opthomology.

Services:  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  At Joan’s request, her body was donated to Saint Louis University for the advancement of science.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 6596 Smiley Ave., St. Louis, MO 63139 are appreciated.  Kutis City Service.

  3. Our deepest sympathies for your entire family Thomas. I didn’t know your mom well but I will always have fond memories of her at the Epiphany church picnics. She was a sweet lady to Patti and I. May she Rest In Peace and May God comfort you all in this difficult time. We love all of you
