  5. I will alway remember the morning when I went down to Franklin County with Joan to watch Papa John leave for the Veterans Honor Flight to Washington DC. It was such a wonderful experience for him and for Joan too. The reception which was held at the East terminal at Lambert airport to celebrate his return, along with the other veterans was electric. The terminal was decorated in red, white and blue and packed with family and friends. It was a wonderful moment for John to be recognized for his service to our country. Joan was just beaming for him! What a special day for him. He will be missed by all!

Tom and I send our thoughts and prayers to Joan, Ed, and the family.

  11. My heart goes out to your family! But what an amazing man he was! Joan, he brought you back into my life.. after so many years because of where he was living in his last years. And since my mom moved to where he was, voila! we met again. I have to say, I am happy about that. I think things happen for a reason, and I am just so glad to have met your dad. He ALWAYS had a smile on his face and what a character. Just watching him move about made me smile — and of course, he had a smile on his face too. He must be really revving things up in heaven!! How lucky heaven is!! Beth Maurer and Mike Maurer
