  5. I worked with Toodles at Ackerman Toyota for 10years. He was a prince of a gentleman. I started at Ackerman straight out of technical college and had the pleasure of Toodles training me. I learned a lot from that soft spoken man. We lost a good one here.

  7. Greg, my best friend since we were seven years old. I have so many fond memories of spending time on Montego Drive where the Helms family accepted me as one of their own. I spent more time at their house than my own! I remember Mr. Helms taking Steve, Greg, and me to opening day of trout fishing. I remember Cub Scouts with Greg and the Troop 688 camping trips.

I left St. Louis to go to school and never returned on a fulltime basis. I saw Greg on every subsequent trip to St. Louis in the intervening 46 years. I found great comfort in knowing that Greg would always be there when I passed through and nothing had changed in all those years.

So, my old friend, I say goodbye with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes. I know our paths will cross again and we’ll be down in the creek catching crawdads and building forts in the woods. Fare thee well and thanks for for your friendship.

  9. While visiting St Louis, I would chip in when preparing the meals for get-togethers. Greg would always come over to me and say “Yummy, Yummy, Yummy!” After the meal, Greg would say yes to some competitive card playing, none of us later remembering who had won or lost. I could never figure out what Greg’s cards were, even though I thought he had a TELL as the left part of his lip would move, just a little. Nobody in the poker group must have figured it out either, as Greg was the first to retire.

  11. Greg,

You will forever be in most of my childhood memories. My Father and you were inseparable friends and I can’t thank you enough for all that you have done for he and I. You helped to spark a lifelong obsession with riding and racing dirt bikes for me. You looked so cool with your 3 wheeler loaded in the back of your truck headed off to St. Joe state park. Your peaceful nature and unwillingness to harm any other being even an Ant opened my eyes to an awareness I may not have otherwise had. And who could forget our trip to England together! May you find everything your looking for and more.
