Mark-Frederickson

In Loving Memory

Frederickson, Mark W.

Mark William Frederickson went to heaven peacefully on Tuesday evening, surrounded by his devoted wife, Kathy, and his two loving daughters, Laura and Katelyn.

Mark was born in St. Louis, MO on July 15th, 1960 to Eunice Rosemary Frederickson (Huelsing) and William Alexander Frederickson. Mark, affectionately known to his many friends, teammates, and co-workers as “Freddy”, will be remembered by his many accomplishments.

Mark was a tremendous athlete across many sports, particularly soccer, which he played professionally all over the country. Mark would finish his soccer career in his hometown, playing for the Steamers and then the Storm. Mark was also a critical employee of World Wide Technology, starting with them in their early stages. He was considered one of WWT’s finest and would end up leading and managing there for over 21 years prior to his retirement.

Above all else, Mark was the truest example of a family man. He was selfless and nurturing, always present and showering his family with his affection. Nothing mattered more to Mark than his wife, his two daughters, and his 7 little grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kathy Frederickson (Antoon); his two daughters, Laura Sinclair (Frederickson) and Katelyn Whitener (Frederickson); his sons-in-law Michael Sinclair and Andrew Whitener; grandchildren Lucy Sinclair, Haley Sinclair, Emily Sinclair, Vinnie Sinclair, Sofie Sinclair, and William Whitener; sisters Jan Pazzi and Lynn Milkoski; brothers Eric Frederickson and Neil Frederickson; and several loving cousins and in-laws.

Mark’s funeral mass will be 11am on Wednesday, January 19th at Our Lady of Sorrows Church (5020 Rhodes Ave, St. Louis, MO 63109) with visitation at church prior at 10am. Graveside services will follow mass at Resurrection Cemetery. Kutis Funeral Home has been entrusted with Mark’s cremation arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Siteman Cancer Center, Dr. Chheda’s Lab, MSC 1204, 7425 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105.

  1. Freddy was a great guy. He was such a smart and accomplished fellow. Imagine a motley crew of college soccer players showing up to watch Freddy play the piano at a nice piano bar. We lost touch after college, but I remember him fondly as he was so kind and considerate and treated everyone so well. God Bless Freddy.

  11. I taught Mark (Freddie) back in his early years of 7th & 8th grade. Even then I knew he would be an amazing man, who would develop all the wonderful talents God had given him: athlete, musician, a great mind and an even greater heart. He played the organ at our wedding in 1974 because he was that good at such a young age. The first time I went to one of his pro soccer games, I was readily able to pick him out as he thru his blond head while running down the field, just as he always did when playing for Mary, Queen of the Universe. The world is a better place because of his dynamic presence. May he rest in the loving arms of the Lord who loves him.

  13. I was so sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. I covered the Kansas City Comets for the KC Star in the early-to-mid1980s when Freddy was a reliable, durable and unselfish midfielder. He was admired by his teammates, respected by opponents and beloved by the fans who packed Kemper Arena.
Man, I can close my eyes and see Freddy at the top of the box killing penalties with his hustle and quickness. Kansas City has become a soccer capital of the U.S., and the contributions and impact made by players such as Mark Frederickson back then laid the groundwork.
He was a pleasure to cover as an athlete and I enjoyed getting to know him as a person. I loved it when we’d come upon a piano in a hotel lobby, and Mark would bat out some tunes.
I hope the wonderful memories you shared with Mark will help get you through these difficult days. May his memory be a blessing.

  15. To the Frederickson family, my memories of Mark go back to when Neil and I would kick soccer at Spring park and Mark would want to come and play with us. We would roll our eyes and say okay. Little did we know he would only pick up our best traits, mostly from Neil.
He was raised in a great family setting and I’m sure he has passed all of this to his loving family.
Our hearts are hurting with this news, but our memories have not faded.

Mark was one of the first people I worked with at WWT many years ago.
He made everyone feel so welcome and part of the team right away.
When I would travel to St. Louis and see him, he was ALWAYS smiling.
Mark was one of the nicest and genuinely kind people I have ever known.

Rest in peace Mark, your family are in my prayers!
