In Loving Memory

Emmons, Kim W (nee Wynn)

Age 66, of St. Louis, Missouri was called Home to be with the Lord March 11, 2023.

Kim was born September 27, 1956, to Herbert and Marlene Wynn in Kirkwood, Missouri.  After Kim graduated from Lafayette Highschool in 1976, she went on to study Secondary Education at University of Missouri-Columbia.

After graduating, Kim taught one year for Francis Howell School District.  She then took on the role of a lifetime as full-time mother to her growing family of children.  In 1989, Kim started her incredibly long career as a Homeschool mother.  She homeschooled a total of 15 children over 33 years.  Her attention to detail, enormous intellect, and caring heart made her a pillar of the homeschool community.  Some of her many homeschool accomplishments include having 9 children graduate from high school, creating multiple curriculums for various grade levels, developing homeschool cooperatives, and providing formal testing to the homeschool community.

Kim is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Terry Emmons.  They met when Kim was 5 years old, and her dad was the pastor at Castlewood Baptist Church.  When she was 12 a kid at the pool was harassing her, and she thought she was going to drown.  Terry pulled the kid off her and saved her life.  It was that day that she decided she was going to marry him.  She prayed for that every day.  At 16, they had their first date, and they were together ever since.  They were married August 12, 1977.  Together they had Jennifer (Randy) Staves, Jamie (Kevin) Johnson, Joshua Emmons, Jana (Jake) Herrell.

Kim and Terry felt the Lord calling them to expand their family through fostering and adoption.  They were blessed to have Jamieko Thompson and Armando Winston in their home for many years.  When they returned to their family of origin, Kim wasn’t done yet.  Over the course of 2 years, Kim and Terry adopted Jayla, Joseph, Jestine, Jubilee, and Jared Emmons.  These children were the light of her life!

Kim and Terry were blessed with 8 grandchildren, Joel Stump, Taylor, Josey, Joybelle Staves, DJ, CJ, MJ, and JJ Herrell.  Kim provided care and education to all her grandchildren.  She will always be remembered dearly as “NaiNai”.

Kim and Terry spent their lives in service to Jesus.  They loved children and spent their years teaching, uplifting, and caring for children through many different ministries.  Terry was gregarious and outgoing, but Kim was the force behind all the projects.  She created multiple Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and Children Church curriculum over the years.  God blessed her work with many children giving their life to Jesus.  The Kingdom of God is bigger because of her unwavering faith in the power of Jesus’ cleansing blood.
