Elizabeth (Betty) J. Cornell

Elizabeth (Betty) J. Cornell, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on Thursday April 28, 2016. Betty was the beloved wife of the late Arthur B. Cornell. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert J. Gillespie and Emma (Oehler) Gillespie, and her siblings Bob Gillespie, June Glynn, and Jack Gillespie.  She is survived by her dear sister Dottie Polack; and her loving sisters-in-law Joann Gillespie, Helen Gillespie, and Barbara Cornell.  Betty was the cherished mother of Anne (Mike) Rutledge, Fred (Susan) Cornell, and Art (Cecilia) Cornell; outstanding grandmother of Bob (Trina) Cornell, Ben Cornell, and David Cornell; dear aunt of many nieces and nephews; beloved sister in Christ; and a close friend to many.  Betty graduated from the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing and St. Louis University.  She worked for Jewish Hospital for her entire career.  She also volunteered for twenty years at Dewey School.  Betty worshiped at the Kirkwood Church of Christ and formerly worshiped at the Spring & Blaine/Affton Church of Christ.  She was a member of the Hi-Pointe Neighborhood Association.  If desired, contributions in her name may be made to Barnes/Jewish Hospital.

 

Services: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON Chapel 10151 Gravois Wednesday May 3, 11:00 AM. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery. If desired, contributions in her name may be made to Barnes/Jewish Hospital. Visitation Tuesday 4-8 PM.
