Ecker-crop

In Loving Memory

Ecker, Deacon Alan E.

Ecker, Deacon Alan E.

March 22, 2020. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church. Beloved husband of Etherine Ecker (nee North); loving father of Jeffrey (Vicki), Amy (Frank) and Michael (Leslie); dear brother of William (Lorraine) and Delores (George); devoted grandfather to Gregory, Mackenzie, Madison and Matthew. He dearly missed his fishing partner, Jim Kirk. A dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Alan was a retired principal from the Mehlville School District, having previously worked at the St. Louis Public Schools. He cherished his service as deacon at St. Francis of Assisi parish.

Donations to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital are greatly appreciated. After the COVID-19 concerns have abated, a memorial service will be held. Private services were held by Kutis South County funeral Chapel.

  1. To the Ecker Family,
Deacon & Principal Ecker has for a long time held a special place in our families heart. He was principal to my two boys. And they did visit his office occasionally. He was always firm but kind. He was the person I called when we lost my oldest son’s 10 year old daughter Paige very sudden. We hold his family in our thoughts and prayers. We have lost a great friend today.

  11. How we love Deacon Ecker!!! To this day, no Easter Vigil can compare to him singing, “This is the night . . ..”. He will be sorely missed – what a lovely man.

  15. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. We’ve had many wonderful conversations comparing our experiences in the public school setting – he gave a lot of helpful advice when I was a young teacher. He will be missed!

  29. Mike and family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Although it’s been a very long time, I always liked your father. I remember seeing him at the St Francis picnic after 20 or more years of not seeing him and he immediately recognized me and we had a great conversation. He is a great man.

  31. Mr. Ecker was my principal at Oakville jr. ,then again at Oakville senior. I was a fairly regular visitor in his office. He was always fair and a no nonsense guy,and never condescending. He had my respect. Even moreso, when looking at my dad’s yearbook from Southwest High School in 1970, I discovered Mr Ecker on the staff there. He obviously was dedicated and cared about students. Rest in Peace, sir.
