Dunigan, Betty Jean

Heaven welcomed a beautiful angel on 12 May 2021 in Minot, North Dakota.

Betty Jean Staggs Dunigan was born on 29 Mar 1935 to Otis and Bessie (Norton) Staggs in Leadwood, Mo.  On April 22, 1954, in St. Louis, MO, she married James L. Dunigan who proceeds her in death.  Also proceeding Betty in death are her parents Otis and Bessie Staggs,stepfather Roy Kell, her Daughter Sherill Lynn Dunigan and her four sisters, Udene Staggs (Kell), Irene Staggs, Delsie Staggs (Valiga) and Dorothy Staggs (Moss).  Betty is survived by her sons Bill (Tonya) Dunigan, Rick (Cate) Dunigan, two brothers, Chester (Jeanie) and Roger Kell; two granddaughters Elizabeth (John) Westfall and Shannon Dunigan. Ten great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter as well as many nephews and nieces.

Betty loved to take care of her family, cook and bake, write poetry, and gardening for which she won several awards in her local gardening club.  Most of all she loved God.

Mrs. Dunigan will join her husband and daughter in burial at Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart, MO.  Viewing will be held at Kutis Funeral Home, South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO, on 19 May 21, from 12:00 until 1:30 followed by service and burial.

The family would especially like to thank all the staff and nurses at the Elmcroft Assisted Living Center, in Minot, ND, for the loving and outstanding care that they gave Mom for the past two years.
