Derrick, Paula Ruth

At age 80, Paula passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 1st, 2018.

Paula was the first born of Otto and Marguerite Mueller. Born on January 2, 1938 in Natchez, MS, but she spent the majority of her young life in Chester, Illinois.

Paula was proceeded in death by her husband Raymond, her granddaughter Stephanie Doelling, her brother Thomas Mueller, and her step son Marco (Mary) Derrick. She is survived by her husband John Ray Derrick, daughter Stephanie (Dan) Roper, grand-children Tyler (Andrea), Melissa, Claire, and Adam Roper, great granddaughter Kendall Neithe.  Son Larry (Lisa) Doelling, grand-children Daniel, Jared and Madelyn Doelling. Son Tom (Roxanne) Doelling, grand-children Jessica and Julia Doelling.  Andrew (Rosey) Doelling, grand-children Michael and Anna Doelling.  Step daughter Cynthia  (Rich) Derrick-Juengel, step grand-children Amy Bell, and Dereck (Jennifer) Stokes.  Step daughter-in-law Mary Derrick, step grand-children Jessica (Jeff) Pozzi, Stacy (Bryan) Kesting, and Allison Derrick.

She attended high school at Chester High and went on to the Jewish Hospital of Nursing graduating in 1959 as a Registered Nurse. She loved caring for new moms & babies throughout her career as an RN on the OB/GYN floors at Jewish/Missouri Baptist hospitals.  She specialized as a NICU nurse and lactation specialist.

After retiring she loved to spend her time with her kids and grandchildren as well as her dogs. Her infectious laugh, her smile and kind heart will be deeply missed.  She now is resting in peace and pain free in Heaven.

Services:  Funeral at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Rd., Friday, July 6, 9 a.m. Interment J.B. National Cemetery.  Visitation Thursday, 4-8 p.m.
