In Loving Memory

Denning, Eugene T.

90, of St. Louis County, passed away on January 20, 2023. Gene was the first son born to Joseph and Elizabeth (Siebert) Denning in Posey County, IN. on May 3, 1932 and was Baptized at St. Matthew’s Church in Mt. Vernon, IN. After growing up on the family farm, he began working at the Chrysler assembly plant in Evansville, IN in 1952. When that facility closed in 1959, he was transferred to the Chrysler plant in St. Louis, MO, where he worked nearly 40 years until his retirement. He was a proud member of Local UAW 136.

He was very active after retirement, repairing lawn mowers, helping friends, family, and neighbors with maintenance//yard work, attending daily Mass at St. Simon, and volunteering with the Crestwood Elks Club. In the fall of every year, he would return to Indiana to load up on pecans and race to get them cracked before the holidays.

He is survived by his loving children, Kathy (Vinh) Vo, Jeff (Peggy) Denning, Barry Denning, Sonja (Dean) Newsome; four grandchildren, Annie and Ben Vo, and Luke and Shelby Denning; and his sister, Rita Weinzapfel of St. Philips, IN. He was preceded in death by his brothers Charlie, Leo, and Andy Denning.

Services: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Saturday, January 28, 9:30 a.m. to Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, 11011 Mueller Rd. for 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Affton.  Visitation Friday, January 27th 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kutis Affton Chapel.  Donations may be made to Hospice.
