  11. I didn’t have the pleasure of getting to Tony well but what I knew of her I admired. I knew she was a superstar because her family talked about how smart and talented she was. I met her on my first visit to St Louis, we stopped by her apartment and I was amazed, it looked like something you see in a magazine. She was a gracious host, warm and friendly. She was a wonderful aunt, always sending birthday and Christmas cards to her niece. Those cards and her gifts like the baby plate with the abc’s on it are cherished. I was cleaning out cabinets recently and came across cards that Tony sent when Sammy was a little girl. We put them in a decorative box, a place to hold precious memories. As Tony arrived in heaven I could almost hear her sister Henrine saying “ girl you had better come on in here” and her mother with tears of joy hugging her child. I know she’s resting peacefully. All her hopes and dreams have been fulfilled in her savior Jesus Christ.

  13. As a friend of the Darris family since the 1960’s, it is with deep sympathy that this note is written. Our family connection began on Natural Bridge Street across from Fairgrounds Park in North St. Louis. During the summer heat all four of the Darris siblings played tennis: Chestony, Anthony, Cranston and the late Henrine. Cranston continues to play tennis in the New York City area winning competitions in his age group. On behalf of my 98 year old mother, Cleo Anderson, our family cherishes the living memory of the Darris family.
Thank you for being an important part of my childhood. Sincerely,

  15. Chestony was my second cousin. Though it has been decades since contact with the Darris family, Tony was never forgotten. I alway thought it was amazing that she had two family first names, for uncles Chester and Anthony. I was saddened to read that she passed. And equally saddened to know I loss the opportunity of a reunion with her, for now. Blessings to my cousins Brother ( Anthony Jr.) Cranston and the late Henrine.
I often think of Uncle Son and Aunt Tops.
My grandmother Nartica , was Uncle Sons sister. Whom I’m named after.
