98, of San Antonio, TX, formerly of St. Louis, MO died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Franklin Park Stone Oak in San Antonio. Sybil was born January 1, 1920 in Coalgate, OK to Joseph and Hattie (Baumert) Charon, the youngest of 3 children. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Kenneth Charon and  her sister Alberta (Charon) Miller. In addition she was preceded in death by her long time friend Frances Gillett. She taught school for over 40 years in the Cahokia and West Frankfort, IL  school districts retiring in June 1980[]. After her  retirement she spent her time traveling and opened a ceramics shop, Charon’s Ceramics. Sybil received her Bachelor of  Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL and her Master of Arts  degree from Peabody College in  Nashville, TN. She graduated from West Frankfort High School. She is known by her relatives as Aunt Bubble and is survived by her niece and nephew, Sharon and Stephen Ashley of San  Antonio, TX, 2 great-nieces,  Kelly McCall of Odenton, MD and Heather Ashley of Gainesville, FL; 3 great-nephews, Joseph McCall of Odenton, MD, Camden and Blake Ashley-Cafazzo of Gainesville, FL.

Services: will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 2 at KUTIS Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will take place at The Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort, IL following the service.
