In Loving Memory

Blank, Janet Louise

Janet Louise Blank (Thomas) passed away Friday evening, March 3, 2018, at Delmar Gardens in Meramec Valley following a brief illness. Janet is away from her body but home with the Lord.

Janet is home in heaven now with her husband, Louis Vernon Blank, who preceded her in death October 1, 1990.  They were happily married for 40 years.

Janet was born and raised in Lemay, MO.  She attended Hancock High School and graduated at the top of her class.  Janet was Prom queen her senior year. Janet was the youngest of her class, at the age of 16; Louis was the oldest of the graduating class at 21. He had left school to join the Navy in WW11 and returned to finish his senior year when the war ended.

Janet and Louis resided in Affton, where they bore and raised four children; Keith Thomas, Kathy Louise, Kendal Louis, and Karyn Elaine.  They were excellent parents and Janet was a caring, loving mother.

Janet went to work in 1974. She worked at Manufacturers Bank.  Janet and Louis were very involved with Bethesda Church in Lemay. They brought doughnuts and stolen to church every Sunday for 27 years.  Janet also served on Counsel there. Janet loved the Lord and grew closer to Him each year.  Janet was also Passionate about the VFW Post 2184.  Janet was district President of the MO VFW and often traveled and gave speeches.  Janet loved her God, her country, and her family.  She loved baking cheesecakes and made beautiful hand painted chocolates.  She was a grace filled, humble woman who never raised her voice or got angry.  She never gossiped and would open her home to anyone needing a hot meal or a place to sleep.  She loved driving and taking long rides, checking out every Wal-Mart she could find with her siblings Bud, Olive, and Bernice.

Janet loved her family; Keith and Cindy, Kathy and Jerry, Kendal and Joyce and Karyn and Mark.  Janet and Jerry and Joyce all shared the same birthday and we would call them the three J’s.  She absolutely adored her grandchildren and often had them spend the night making apple pancakes and  giving them long bubble baths.  Her grandchildren were precious to her and each one knew how much she loved them and how special they were to her.  Janet had 14 grandchildren; Mande, Jennafer, Christopher, Michelle, Stephanie, Matthew, Kevin, Andrew, Mitchell, Tiffany, Taylor, Kyle, Whitney, and Courtney and four step grandchildren, John, Gina, Timothy and Tiffany.

In later years after struggling with Alzheimers, Janet took pleasure in watching her 24 great grandchildren run around and visit her.  She loved visiting Norah and Lucy in their purple room.  Her great grandchildren will miss their GG.  Haeleigh, Mikaila, Grayce, Joshua, Henry, Louis, Corey, Caleigh, Norah, Lucy, Elliot, Abel, Isaac, Charlotte, Adeline, Luke, Eden, Lydia, Charlotte, Easton, Ezra, Bax, Axel, and Eila, Dominic,Antonio, Amina, Tyler and Kensley.

Janet will be missed by her surviving brothers, Richard and Ronald and is rejoicing with her siblings who preceded her in homecoming, Olive, Bernice, and Charles (Bud).  Many nieces and nephews and friends will miss her sweet face and humble ways.  She will be rejoicing with her parents, Charles and Marguerite Thomas.

Janet will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered as one whom role modeled her Savior, Jesus Christ, well.
