In Loving Memory

Betz, Shirley Price

Shirley (Price) Betz, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Friday, March 27, 2020, at the age of 80 years, in The Arbors at Mattis Pointe.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ronald Betz, and three brothers, Ike Price, Raymond Price, and Edward Price.  She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Hutson  and Tina Betz-Bacon; two sons-in-law, Tony Hutson and John Bacon; six grandchildren, Mikaela Hutson, RJ Hutson, Anelise Hutson, Andrew Hutson, Lillian Betz-Bacon, and Millicent Betz-Bacon; two sisters, Betty (Price) Galloway and Helen (Price) Brand; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born August 8, 1939, in Harrisburg, Arkansas, to Mary Louvinia and Arlie Price.  The Price family later migrated to the St. Louis area.  Growing up, Shirley loved looking after her many nieces and nephews.  After marrying Ronald Betz, she lived in Cahokia until they moved to Canada and then to New Orleans, where they remained until Ron retired.  Shirley enjoyed New Orleans life, and worked there as a licensed real estate agent for several years.   Always a musician, Shirley often sang with her sisters, in church choirs and Barbershop music with her daughters in both Sweet Adelines and Harmony Inc..  Shirley and Ron both enjoyed dancing and were members of the Jefferson County Swing Club.  The greatest joys in Shirley’s life were her grandchildren and she smiled just spending time with the six of them.

Shirley was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Arnold.  She will be laid to rest at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, with her late husband, Ronald Betz.

Due to present public health concerns, there will be no visitation at this time.  Later, when we can all come together again, a memorial gathering will be held with friends and family to celebrate the life of Shirley Betz.
