Bates, Charles “Steve” Stevenson

Mr. Charles “Steve” Stevenson Bates passed away peacefully on July 1st, 2017 in Saint Louis, Missouri at the age of 65.

Steve is survived by son Dominic (Bridget) Stevenson Bates, daughter Catherine Barbara Bates, sister Mary “Maribeth” Elizabeth Dennis (Bates), sister Theresa (Jim) Marie Marik, and sister Barbara (Don) Ann Phillips. He is preceded in death by his sister Martha Bates, brother Mark Gregory Bates, sister Nancy Catherine Dietz (Bates) and brother Robert “Tom” Thomas Bates, of Tucson, Arizona.

Steve was born on January 11th, 1952 in Tucson, Arizona to the late Raymond “Robert” Robert and Norma Elizabeth Bates. Steve served in the United States Army, and went on to graduate from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Administration. Steve spent the next years working through several different positions in Civil Service for the Federal Government, which took him all across the country. Steve settled down in St. Louis, MO, and started a family with Justyna Bates (Konarska), and went to Jewish Hospital College of Nursing, where he received his Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, and worked in Civil Service and Nursing for 18 more years before retirement. “What a ride!”

A memorial ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, July 13th, 2017 at Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3500 – 1717 S Big Bend Blvd, Richmond Heights, MO 63117, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral is scheduled for July 14th, 2017 – 9:30 am at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, with brunch to follow. Deacon Carl Germaine will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Steve’s life. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to Alcoholics Anonymous would be appreciated.
