Dunnegan, Steven Lynn “Duffy”
Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother of Church, January 9, 2021. Beloved son of the late Clara M. (Valleroy) and the late James E. Dunnegan. Brother of James Barry, Jeannine (Greg) Larm, uncle to James Ryan, brother-in-law to Debbie.
Steve was a proud graduate of Lindbergh High School and Central Methodist College, playing soccer for both. He received his Masters in Educational Television from the University of Missouri Columbia. Steve worked in Television, Technology, and Videography for the University of Missouri Columbia and Saint Louis Public Schools. He was also a videographer for the St. Louis Football Cardinals. He had many fun stories about working and traveling with the team, and trying to film while perched on stadium rooftops.
Steve was an avid golfer, fly fisherman, and bird hunter. He was happiest being outdoors doing the things he loved with family and friends. English Pointers Jack III and Jed, and Labrador Buck, were his loyal companions. Miss Kitty claimed him as her own.
He was a lifelong St. Louis Baseball Cardinals fan, attending World Series games in every series they played in since his birth. He interned in videography for a few years with the team. Steve loved England and Britain, especially their comedy and golf courses; good theatre; and Christmas. Steve could pick the perfect bottle of wine for any occasion. His favorite thing was being at Whippoorwill Valley among the trees, fields, and horses. Blessed with an Irish sense of humor, Steve was a friend to many, a stranger to none.
Special thanks to his core groups of friends who helped him remain active these last several years doing the things he loved.
Please raise a glass and toast Steve as he has met up with mom and dad on the back nine. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Missouri Conservation Department or Ducks Unlimited Columbia, MO appreciated. Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held at a later date. A KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY service.
Our deepest sympathy to Janene and Greg Larm and the rest of his family.
Jeannine, Greg, Barry…my heart is broken. Steve was one of my best friends, and hunting, fishing, and golfing with him were some of my favorite things in life to do! Like you, I’ll miss him terribly…but the memories are something I’ll cherish the rest of my life. My thoughts are with you folks! I’m so glad that he’s not suffering anymore!
May our Lord bless and comfort you and your family during this time of grief. Please accept my sincere condolences.
I will miss my dear neighbor immensely. Countless of times each of my dogs almost pulled my arms from their sockets as they desperately tried to get as quickly as possible to their best buddy Steve. He loved them as much as they loved him. It will never be the same as I pass his little house and not see his friendly face in the door with a dog biscuit in hand. I’ll miss our talks about animals, life and the outdoors. Each time he passed me as I walked my pooches he pulled over for a quick chat. Our little neighborhood just will not be the same. Buck and Jed have their best buddy with them once again. Oh what a reunion that must have been <3
Jeannine, Greg, Barry & family,
I am so saddened by your loss. What a beautiful path Duffy left for others to follow.
Death may have taken his body but the relationship lives on forever!
Jeannine, you were a very caring & kind sister; I pray that you and your family will comforted by our heavenly Father.
My Sincere Condolences,
Kathy (&Bob)
You have my most sincere condolences. Steve was a very good friend over the years and I will miss him a great deal. I regret not being able to spend as much time at the farm in the last few years as I would have liked turkey hunting and visiting the local wineries with him. I hope he finds Morrell Heaven up there and is able to cook them to his heart’s delight!
Sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. I will always remember chasing ringnecks and turkeys with you guys. Your dad was a jewel and I always had a great time down on the farm. Jim’s ribs were worth the trip.
