James David Russell, (Jim to his friends and family), 69, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on September 1st, 2019 after losing a courageous battle with a giant octopus.

His memorial mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Parish on Saturday September 7th at 11am. A celebration to honor his memory will immediately follow. Information below-

Jim was a New Year’s baby, born on January 1st, 1950. He was a proud graduate of Rosary High School and went on to graduate with honors from St. Benedict’s College. He then furthered his education by earning his Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois. He went on to be an outstanding attorney for Peabody Coal, Thompson Coburn, DTE Energy, Prairie State and several private practice ventures. His professional career was dwarfed only by his dedication to his friends and family. 

Jim is survived by his older brother Larry, three loving children, Chris (Melissa), Evan (Laura) and Molly; and grandchildren Ellie, Hudson and Penelope.

Jim is preceded in death by his father Joseph, his mother Margaret and his brother Michael. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Jim’s honor may be given to The American Cancer Society. The Russell family wishes to thank Kutis Funeral Home, Holy Redeemer and Reverend Richard Stoltz.
