G. Michael “Winks” Winkelmann, 67 of St. Louis MO, passed away on February 8th, 2019 at St Mary’s Hospital, the same hospital where he was born on March 16th, 1951.  Mike committed his life to education and mentorship, teaching youth of all ages including special needs students at Nottingham High School for the previous eight years.  A gifted basketball player, he was inducted into both the DuBourg High School and Missouri Baptist University Halls of Fame where he still holds records.  He was a stalwart supporter of the student athlete for more than 30 years, officiating field hockey, lacrosse, volleyball, and is best known for being a Supervisor of Officials for St. Louis area basketball.  Mike was a devoted and supportive husband, father, son, uncle, grandfather, godfather, brother, and friend.  Well known for his unwavering positivity and larger-than-life personality, he brought immense joy and laughter to everyone in his life.  Surviving is his loving and devoted wife Cheryl Winkelmann, nee Shannon; their children Jennifer (Chris) Craig, and Derick (Casey) Cross; his siblings, Patricia (Tom) Ahrens, Mary (Kevin) Brennan, Judy Greffet, Jerry (Susan) Winkelmann, Chris (Kelli) Winkelmann; and his many wonderful friends and students.  He is preceded in death by his parents George Winkelmann, Patricia Winkelmann, nee Corkery, and brother Thomas Winkelmann.

Services: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Saturday, February 16, 9:15 a.m. to Epiphany of Our Lord  Catholic Church for 10 a.m. Mass. Service concludes after Mass. A Memorial has been established to the Lydia Cox Family  Foundation (714 Wildview Ln., Manchester, MO 63021)  www.lydiafaithcoxfamilyfoundation.com            . The Foundation  sponsors an annual bike camp to teach children with disabilities to ride a typical 2-wheel bike. Visitation Friday, 4-8 p.m.
