St. Louis – Jerome M. Bielicke, 66 died on Monday, May 14, 2018. He was born on Christmas Day in Belleville, IL at Scott AFB Hospital to Victor and Cecelia Bielicke, nee Cichon. He was a bachelor survived by his twin brother Lawrence, (Evie) of Iowa City, IA and brother Raymond, (Monica) of Rock Island, IL also nieces and nephews, Angela, Robert, Matthew, Shannon, Amy, William and Chrissy, a handful of great nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother David and sister Theresa Clifton.
Jerry was an active member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, participating as a Cantor and Choir member. Growing up in East St. Louis, IL he attended St. Adalbert Church and Grade School. He graduated From Assumption High School in 1969. He received a B. S. Degree in Journalism from Bradley University in Peoria, IL in May 1973.
While attending Bradley he worked at the campus radio station WCBU and on weekends worked at a brand new WWTO 106.5 FM “Solid Gold Rock and Roll W-2 Stereo” station. After graduating he moved to St. Louis to take care of his mother and aunts. He had a strong need to get a job in radio. On March 1, 1976 was hired as the Program Director at The Radio Information Service (RIS) at the Shrine of Our Lady of The Snows in Belleville, IL. RIS is a closed-circuit radio station that broadcasts daily reading of newspapers, books and magazines to people with low or no vision. Jerry worked at RIS for 28 years until May 2005. He loved working with the volunteers, blind and elderly who were his inspirations as a caregiver.
Jerry was diagnosed with diabetes in 2010, which he struggled with, in his later years. He never lost interest in the radio and kept up with current events, pop culture, St. Louis history, music, movies and trivia. He always remembered friends and family’s birthdays and anniversaries, bless his soul.
Memorial Service Visitation is scheduled from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM with Prayer Service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Kutis Funeral Home, 2906 Gravois, St. Louis, MO.
