Steven Michael Yoder of Arnold passed on January 19th, 2022, at the age of 59. Born June 9th, 1962 in St Louis to Alan Yoder and Patricia (Beishir) Yoder, the third of four children.
Steve attended Fox High School in Arnold, where he would often be described as a class clown, always playing pranks and jokes on the other students and faculty, and infamously performing a massive burnout during the homecoming parade, knocking over the prom queen sitting in the back of his convertible car. Steve graduated in 1980, but only, he would often joke, because the school didn’t want him around for a whole extra year.
He met his wife, Susan Cole, on December 19, 1980, eventually marrying on November 20, 1982. During this time, Steve began working at Haas Bakery, and, while he worked other jobs afterwards, he always considered himself a baker by trade, he greatly enjoyed creating sweets and cakes for his friends and family.
While Steve’s love of laughter never left him, he settled down into the role of family man with the birth of his two daughters, Samantha Jo (September 8, 1986), and Stephanie Joann (July 14, 1992). The Yoders most common family activities included fishing and camping at Lake Wappapello and the Huzzah River, but Steve was also known for throwing large holiday parties at home, with Independence Day fireworks shows and Halloween candy handouts being his favorites.
Steve was an avid automobile enthusiast, he enjoyed classic cars and worked on his own ‘retro-rod’, a 1929 Ford, and attended many car shows throughout the St. Louis area. He was also a fan of Elvis Presley, he would often attend impersonation concerts with his family. Steve also was a lover of animals, having many, many pet cats and dogs through his life, starting in his childhood with Tippy, ‘The Wonder Dog’.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, Alan, and his parents in law, Raymond and Josephine (Markham) Cole. He is survived by his wife Susan, his daughters Samantha (Steven) Furrer and Stephanie (Bryant Lynch), and his brothers, John, Al (Trudy), and Kenny (Diane) and mother Patricia.
Services; A memorial and celebration of Steven’s life will be held on January 30th, 2022, at the Pastime Club in Imperial (5557 US-61) from 1 pm to 5 pm.
