Born James Arthur Langevin, Jr. on May 27, 1966, Jim was the loving husband of Lisa (Handte), proud father of Joseph, William, David, and Jonathan; beloved son of Joan (Slama) Langevin: son-in-law of the late Bill and Carol Handte; brother to Nick (Bette) Langevin and Theresa (Langevin) Wolf; brother-in-law to James and Sandy (Handte) Wittich; and uncle to Christopher and Matthew Wolf, Sam and Nathan Wittich, Joshua, Adam, and Zachary Langevin, and Nicholas Black.
Jim was a South St. Louis guy, attending Sts. Bernadette and George grade schools, St. Mary’s High School (class of ’84), UMSL, and Forest Park Community College.
Jim worked at McDonald’s in the 80’s, where he met his wife, Fox Photo and CPI, the Times Newspapers, and most recently at RG Ross Construction. His most important work, however, was as a devoted dad and husband. He was intensely proud of his sons and the most caring of husbands. Jim always put others before himself, not only at home but in the community of his parish, the Affton Chamber of Commerce, and Raywood Avenue. He was a generous, thoughtful, and humorous person who had great ideas and could make them happen. He could always be counted on to help where help was needed, and readily offered his assistance to those in need. He loved dogs (Pepper!!), rock music, the Steelers, movies, and trivia.
Jim leaves a big hole in his family and community, but Jim would consider this a challenge issued to all of us left behind to not only fill it in but to build a mountain of collective good from it.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to St. Louis University High School, the community that has and continues to help raise up his sons to be men for others.
